Google Announces Hummingbird Search Update

Since its launch, Google has always strived to provide the most relevant search results possible for its users. On its 15th anniversary, the search engine introduced a new search update called Hummingbird. The update is another major step towards connecting users to the information and content they are looking for, more efficiently than ever.

Unlike the release of previous algorithm ‘upgrades’ like Panda or Penguin, Hummingbird won’t force marketers to restructure their pre-existing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy for preferential search ranking. Instead brands will have to reconsider how their content and online properties will complement the search queries and online behaviours of their target audience.

By releasing an algorithm that revolves around the natural, conversational search behaviours of its users, Google will ultimately drive brands to develop better content for its users.
